Merkley’s 2013 Fun Fair was full of bouncing, photos, and walking. The cake walk, photo booth, and jump house stole the show.
The cake walk is an annual event Merkley has at the fun fair. It is similar to musical chairs in that you keep moving on the Candyland type squares until the music stops. If you are on a winning square, after the fair you win a cake, cupcakes, or other baked good. Nachos, loaded potatoes, and walking tacos filled everyone’s bellies during the fun fair.
The large and small bouncy houses were provided by backyard bouncers, one was just a house, the other was more of a castle with a jump area and an obstacle area. Zig-E’s Funland of St. John had a mini golf setup in a room and were giving away prizes and tokens. Nachos, loaded potatoes, and walking tacos filled everyone’s bellies during the fun fair.
A line for the fun fair photo booth was out the door most of the evening. Many students enjoyed the mustaches on a stick, neon glasses, and the guitar hero guitar. The two Highland fun fair volunteers of the photo booth did a great job keeping the guests moving in and out.
Highland really came through as the football mom’s sold cookbooks, the key club ran the tattoos and feathers for your hair, and the art honor society helped out with the face painting. The Midwest Tumblers also had an area set up so the kids could expend some energy tumbling around on mats and other objects.
