Joanne and Brennie | Union League Club | Chicago | DJ

Joanne and Brennie proved that Chicago was their kind of town during their wedding held at the Union League Club in downtown Chicago.

During cocktail hour a jazz band performed, a tribute to Brennie’s university days in New Orleans. The groom’s cake, featuring a New Orleans streetcar, was another southern touch. The couple’s gobo featured their names above a fleur-de-lis, a flower-like symbol often used in New Orleans as an ode to its French heritage. During cocktail hour, guests could stop and watch pictures of the bride and groom playing on a plasma TV screen.Union League Club Wedding Favors

Chicago postcards were used as place cards, and included a handwritten note from the bride and groom as well as your name and “address” to your wedding seat. Tables were named after Chicago landmarks, and once seated, guests found Frango mint boxes as favors.

The room, which features original artworks by famous artists like Monet, was adorned with beautiful candelabra centerpieces and uplighting around the dance floor.

The couple entered the room to applause and then wowed the crowd with a choreographed dance number, complete with a cloud beneath their feet.

After dinner, the guests had their chance to show their dance moves and all ages took the floor as the DJ played Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.” During the anniversary dance, all married couples came out to dance and see who had been married the longest. The dancing continued and at 11 p.m., the after party started complete with glow necklaces and a more club like vibe. To finish the night, everyone came together for the song “We are Young” by Fun and Auld Lang Syne to close out this elegant New Orleans-Chicago infused wedding.
