Jessica and Chris| Graeber Barn | Valparaiso, IN | Uplighting
Signs up all over town directed guests to Graeber’s Barn in Valparaiso where Jessica and Chris celebrated an out of this world wedding ceremony and reception with uplighting. Although there was lots of singing going on throughout the evening, the couple had many nods to their love of the Star Wars saga and video games.
A sith married the couple after bridesmaids and groomsmen entered to the imperial march and the bride walked down to the Star Wars: New Hope theme. The Valparaiso barn then transformed into the reception site with a little rearrangement, tables, centerpieces and table linens. During the transformation of the room, a few superheroes made an appearance.
As guests arrived they were greeted by a continuous slide show of Jessica and Chris on a television. Tables were released to the dinner buffet by a scavenger hunt getting lots of attention with the interesting yet unique items guests were asked to bring up.
Suzy’s Catering provided the dinner buffet including chicken Kiev, pulled pork, mixed vegetables, cheesy potatoes and more. The 3 tier cake stood alone with a Reese’s peanut butter cup sheet cake and vanilla sheet cake to the side also served buffet style. Finishing off dessert was chocolate fountain with pretzels, marshmallows, and various fruits.
The disc jockey had guests dancing all night as the light jockey changed the color of the uplighting around the room. The bridesmaids set the mood for dancing as they sang Vanilla Ice’s – Ice Ice Baby right after the maid of honor’s toast. Many of the men had a surprise for the groom as they all sang Build Me Up Buttercup to the groom.
The barn was converted with blue sheets and tulle under the catwalk, Christmas lights and tulle across the banisters, and tulle across the ceiling coming into a star burst shape. Blue uplighting lit up the room once the reception started and was the main lighting for the dances.
